Running to catch a train

Running to catch a train

Performed on 18th May 2016 at Contemporary Art & Design Degree Show (Private View) – Writtle University College, Chelmsford

A performance/sound piece about a recurring dream in which I am frequently late and running to catch a train. Sound dominates the performance with my recollection of the dream but while the audio plays I paint images and text related to my feelings then take unpredictable prints from them. I often document my dreams and am interested in their meaning. The psychoanalyst, Carl Jung spoke of trains as symbols of power but in my dreams I am unable to keep up and am ‘powerless’, a feeling that carries over into my everyday life.
